\nF\u00fcr dieses gewagte Vorhaben haben sich die beiden Frauen Produzenten wie Mark Elizondo (Dr. Dre, Eminem, Nelly Furtado) und Greg Kurstin \u00a0(Kelly Clarskon, Foster for the People) ins Boot geholt.
\nKein Wunder also, dass von dem originalen Tegan-and-Sara-Sound nicht viel \u00fcbrig geblieben ist.<\/p>\n

Die Piano-Ballade \u201eI was a Fool\u201c erinnert an den fragilen Elektro-Sound von Kate Bush und Tegan best\u00e4tigt das: „We definitely took elements from her early records“. Ungew\u00f6hnliche Keyboard- und Drum-Sounds machen die Parallele eindeutig.<\/p>\n

Diesen Synthie Pop kann man m\u00f6gen, muss man aber nicht. Tegan & Sara verseifen alles Rohe, Alternative, das ihre Musik einst so besonders gemacht hat. Ein qualitativer Absturz der alles in allem einfach nur bedauerlich ist.<\/p>\n

Tanzbar ist Heartthrob auch, keine Frage; Mehr aber auch nicht.<\/p>\n

Was bleibt ist der immer noch unverkennbar blecherne Doppelgesang der Schwester. Doch selbst der l\u00e4sst nicht \u00fcber stereotype Textzeilen hinweg h\u00f6ren. Wenn Strophen \u201cCome a little closer\u201d bitten, um \u201cthings physical\u201d zu machen und Titel wie Fool For Love von I\u2019m not your hero oder \u201cdrove me wild\u201d s\u00fclzen, dann ist es einfach mal zu viel.<\/p>\n

Tegan and Sara haben sich wohl f\u00fcr die falsche Richtung entschieden. Soundvergleiche werden nun mit 80er-Legenden statt mit Indie-Heldinnen wie Peaches gemacht. Mag sein, dass Heartthrob ein kommerzieller Erfolg wird – Indieherzen schlagen da aber nicht mehr h\u00f6her – und meines blutet sogar.<\/em><\/p>\n

Bleibt zu hoffen, dass das n\u00e4chste Album keine Ode an Dj Bobo und die Schl\u00fcmpfe wird.<\/p>\n
